August Deadline for Volunteer Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2009 Governor’s Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service, which is managed by the North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service.
Submissions will be due to the County Coordinator by Friday, August 28, 2009. The winners will be recognized during a luncheon in November.

Justin Chappell, 21, of 1513 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, died Monday evening, April 13, 2009, in University of North Carolina Hospital, Chapel Hill. Arrangements are pending with Swindell Funeral and Cremation Services of Hertford.

     Finally, a chance to ring a church bell! A once in a lifetime opportunity…a chance to ring a historic church bell (at least 150 years old) in a church that is celebrating its 200th anniversary!
     Have you ever wanted to ring a church bell? Well, New Hope UMC is offering you that once in a lifetime opportunity on Saturday, January 3, 2009 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The bell, located in their belfry, is used to announce worship each Sunday.
