All schools in the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public School District will be released two hours early on Friday, August 26th due to anticipated weather conditions over the weekend. Chairs of County Commissions Ask Navy to Remove OLF Site from

Chairs of the county boards of commissioners for Camden, Currituck and Pasquotank recently delivered a letter to Secretary of the Navy Raymond Mabus. The commissioners
formally asked that Hale’s Lake, Camden County be removed from the list
of possible choices for the Outlying Landing Field.

August Deadline for Volunteer Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2009 Governor’s Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service, which is managed by the North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service.
Submissions will be due to the County Coordinator by Friday, August 28, 2009. The winners will be recognized during a luncheon in November.
