Currituck Co. experiences 911 disruption

Currituck County, NC is experiencing interruptions in 9-1-1 service due to a lightning strike at the county’s Communications Center. County staff is currently working to fix this problem. Any citizen who calls 9-1-1 and does not receive an answer can reach a dispatcher by calling 252-232-2216 or 252-232-2424.

Severe Storms Moving Through Area

National Weather Service radar indicates that a line of severe thunderstorms is currently moving through the area. The line of storms extends from Virginia Beach, southwest toward Edenton and Central North Carolina.

Currituck Schools Closed Wednesday

Currituck County Schools has announced that all County Schools will be CLOSED today, Wednesday, February 4, 2009 to students and staff. Students will attend school on Saturday, February 7 as a make-up day.
