Currituck High School Evacuated due to “non-specific” threat

Currituck County High School staff and students were evacuated for about 40 minutes late this afternoon. As a precaution, everyone was evacuated due to a non-specific threat made to the facility.

Parents were notified of the lockdown and potential impacts on dismissal procedures using our automated alert system.

The Currituck County Sheriff’s Department assisted with a sweep of the building and cleared it for students and staff to return at about 3:05 pm. Students were released to go home shortly after their normal dismissal time. Administrators will be investigating the incident.
