Currituck, NC - At sunrise on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, Debbie Rorer, 56 of Currituck County, NC, wife of Commissioner John Rorer, lost her long battle with cancer and left her pain behind forever.
Debbie was born in Newport News, VA March 31, 1955 to William E. Cundiff II, who predeceased her, and Marjorie Krause Cohen who resides with her husband Gerald in Virginia Beach. In addition to her husband and mother, Debbie is survived by her daughter Shanna M. Simpson of Newport News, her son Richard, R. “Buddy” Simpson of Cartersville, GA, and two brothers William E. Cundiff, III of Yorktown, VA and David W. Cundiff of Galax, VA.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 11AM, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at Moyock United Methodist Church, 268 Caratoke Hwy. Moyock, NC 27958 with Pastor Bill Masciangelo officiating. All who knew and were touched by Debbie are welcome to gather and share their memories of her. Debbie was an indomitable woman determined to make a positive difference in the lives of others. She served many organizations and was the secretary of the Currituck Wild Goose Rotary Club and a board member of Currituck Kids when she passed. The family asks everyone to consider a donation to the Currituck Kids Fund of the Currituck-Dare Community Foundation in Debbie’s honor so the cause she loved will continue to help the school age children of Currituck County.
