Corolla Ocean Rescue announced this afternoon that the beaches now have red flags posted due to debris washing up in the surf. This makes the water unsafe for swimmers. As a reminder, red flags mean that beachgoers are not allowed to enter the water. Anyone walking on the beach should use caution.
Currituck County government has coordinated with the NC Forest Service and volunteers in Corolla to begin removal of beach debris this afternoon
