Ban on Alcohol Sales Lifted
Currituck County officials lifted the ban on alcohol sales as of 7 a.m. and began the process of assessing damage from Hurricane Earl at sunrise. Assessment teams are currently throughout each area of Currituck.
At this time, damage assessment in Carova is underway behind the dune line only. The beach road is currently covered with water up to the dune line. Debris assessment on the beach will be initiated as the water recedes and a decision on re-entry into Carova will be made when damage assessment is complete.
Vacationers wishing to return to the Currituck Outer Banks are advised to contact their realty company prior to crossing the Wright Memorial Bridge. Realty companies will assist in the assessment of specific properties and will be alerted by Currituck County when affected areas are clear for re-entry.
