Currituck Outer Banks Evacuation in Progress
Currituck County government is receiving reports of heavy traffic on the beach road in the 4-wheel drive section and on NC 12 through Corolla, and through Duck and Southern Shores in Dare County en route to Highway 158.
Motorists are asked to be patient as they work their way onto 158 at Southern Shores. NC Department of Transportation and the NC Highway Patrol, as well as local law enforcement, have officials in the area to help improve the flow of traffic. Motorists should follow all normal traffic laws and the directives of law enforcement in the area.

- Currituck County government offices will be closed on Friday, Sept. 3;
- Currituck County schools will be closed on Friday, Sept. 3
- All Parks & Recreation events for Friday, Sept. 3 are canceled.
