Does this make any sense to anyone?
I asked Randall Edwards, Currituck County Public Information Officer, what the commissioners could do after declaring a local state of emergency. In regards to the powers under state of emergency - there are basically four main things the county can do:
1. order an evacuation
2. suspend alcohol sales
3. institute a curfew
4 suspend sales of firearms, ammunition and explosives.
Well, it is still silly. It looks like an exercise in power, period. And I think it would be public info as to what commissioners voted for this measure…. Editor, you state ‘commissioners’ and then ‘county’ … what is the protocol?
Did Dare County suspend alcohol sales? It was not in any public announcement that I saw. Surely they were more under the gun that Currituck.
