Area Schools Schedule Late Starts

In anticipation of excess rain and wind as the remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole interact with a stalled frontal boundary of eastern North Carolina, local school systems have announced delayed openings for Thursday, September 30. The following schools systems will open on a 2 hour delay:

Currituck Officials Monitoring Remnants of Nicole

Currituck County Emergency Management is currently monitoring Tropical Depression 16 / Tropical Storm Nicole, as it travels up the coastline this week.

The Currituck County, N.C. Sheriff’s Office released today the identification of the missing swimmer recovered yesterday in Corolla, N.C. as Tri Tran, male age 38 of Springfield, Virginia.

Citizens in Currituck County should be prepared for Tropical Storm-force conditions tonight as Hurricane Earl passes the northeastern North Carolina coast.
