The National Weather Service in Wakefield, Virginia has issued a heat advisory, which is in effect from 12 noon through 6 pm this evening.
Temperatures are expected to climb well into the 90s this afternoon across much of northeastern North Carolina. High temperatures combined with dew points in the lower to middle 70s will produce heat index values of 105 tp 107 degrees for a few hours this afternoon.
Precautions and Preparedness
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
