Demo with Joshua Been
• From Joshua: “During the demonstration I will talk about the importance of design to the visual journey that a painter creates for the viewer. I also will be mentioning the importance of the simplification of the elements seen when deciding what to paint, or the “editing process.” I will be going in to the four pronged approach to painting that I have adapted to my own practice, those being: SHAPE, VALUE, EDGES, AND TEXTURE. Within the four pronged approach to painting, Color will be a vast subject, as well as relationships of shape, value, temperature, and edges. I’ll be trying to sell the illusion of depth within the piece and have a lot of tips on doing so that I will mention. I have some humorous anecdotes that never fail to come up during a demo. I’ll also be talking about some of the success factors of being a full time artist such as alignment with supply and demand, right practice, standing on the shoulders of giants, juggling shows versus gallery representation, etc.”

The Center Players present “The Ever After” (Musical)
• Synopsis: Is Ever After really as happy as everyone expected? In a hilarious parody of daytime TV, host Sally Lizzie Jesse Donatello-Griffin wonders if time truly heals all wounds. She invites Cinderella and her middle-aged “beauty-impaired” stepsisters to reconcile with each other after being estranged for 20 years. What about Snow White and the Evil Queen? This hysterical fractured fairy tale has it all: a trash-talking clairvoyant mirror, an unfortunate prince who is turning slowly back into a frog and even Jiminy Cricket—now an occupational therapist and author of the book My Life as Your Conscience. The musical is punctuated by questions from obnoxious studio audience members and ridiculously funny infomercials for fairy tale related products, such as the Practical Princess Crown (which doubles as a purse and makeup case). Get ready for some knee-slapping and hand-clapping with great foot-tapping songs like “Beauty Impaired” and “Dainty Do-Gooder”!
