Currituck Officials to meet with COA president

The Currituck County Board of Education, Currituck County Board of Commissioners and newly selected College of the Albemarle President, Dr. Kandi W. Deitemeyer, will have lunch at the Coinjock Marina at 12:30 after their meeting in Camden.

College of The Albemarle’s Board of Trustees selected Dr. Kandi W. Deitemeyer to serve as COA’s ninth president.

Matt Wood, Chair of the Board of Trustees stated “The board of trustee members have worked diligently in selecting Dr. Deitemeyer as the college’s president. She comes to COA with an extensive and diverse background in community college administration, and has the drive, talent, and passion that makes for a great president.”

Dr. Kandi W. Deitemeyer has served as Vice President of Academic Programs and Services at Davidson County Community College in Lexington, North Carolina since May 2008. Prior to her current position, she served as the College Provost for Gateway Community and Technical College in Covington, Kentucky from July 2006 to May 2008. She served as Vice President of Student Services from 2005 to 2006 and Dean of Student Services from 2003 to 2005 at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, North Carolina. From 2000 to 2001, she served as the Director of Education Programs at the University of South Florida in Lakeland. Prior to that position, she served the University as the Director of Academic Programs from 1999 to 2000. From 1997 to 1999, she served as the Assistant Director of Student Services at Polk Community College in Winter Haven, Florida. From 1992 to 1997, she served the College as the Coordinator of Academic Advising and Advisor. Dr. Deitemeyer earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications & Public Relations, a Masters Degree in Counselor Education, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Dr. Deitemeyer began her employment with College of The Albemarle effective April 19, 2010.
