Kill Devil Hills - Robert Joseph Stewart Jr., 59, of Colington Harbour, Kill Devil Hills, died Wednesday, Jan.13, 2010 in Harbinger. Born in Norfolk, Va., he was the son of Roselyn Walsh Stewart of Chesapeake, Va. and the late Robert J. Stewart Sr. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Taylor. Mr. Stewart, a Civil Engineer, and his wife were the owners/operators of Performance Engineering in Harbinger. He was the Town Engineer of Kitty Hawk, a mentor with the Friends of Youth Program, was involved with youth sports programs in Dare County for many years, and volunteered his services with non-profit animal organizations. He was an avid fan of the UNC Tarheels. In some circles he was known as Bobby T.G. “The Great”. In addition to his beloved wife, Joy DeVall Stewart, Mr. Stewart is survived by his mother, Roselyn Walsh Stewart; three sisters, Sydney Stewart, Ellen Stewart and husband, Russell White, Morgan Duncan and husband, Michael; and several nieces and nephews including the Taylors of Greensboro. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. His sense of humor brought much laughter to all who knew him. His love and kindness will remain in many hearts forever. We will miss you Bobby; you brought so much happiness to all who knew you, and you will never be forgotten. You will live in our hearts and souls forever. Thank you for the many beautiful and cherished memories. We will all meet again one day, and will know that the Pearly Gates of Heaven are FINALLY in compliance thanks to “our Bobby Stu”! A visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m., with a funeral service immediately following at Twiford’s Funeral Home, Manteo by the Rev. Robert Pitsch. A “Celebration of Life” will follow at Kelly’s Tavern & Restaurant in Nags Head. In lieu of flowers, Bobby requested memorial donations be made in his memory to the animal organization of your choice.
