Communications problems in the Currituck County 911 system, resulting from a lightning strike during this afternoon’s thunderstorm have been resolved, according to Mary Newns, director Currituck County Emergency Management.
County officials had reported that the 911 system was experiencing some problems after lightning strikes near the county offices in Currituck, around 3:49 this afternoon.
A similar series of events on July 17 resulted in Currituck’s 911 services being disrupted for several hours.
In the event that callers to 911 receive a busy signal, they are reminded to call Currituck County Central Communications at 232-2216.
