Currituck Day at Museum of the Albemarle

Elizabeth City, NC - Sunday, May 17th, from 2pm to 5pm, the Museum of the Albemarle will pay special tribute to Currituck County, one of the 13 counties in its interpretive region. A focus on Currituck County artifacts, special recognition from Currituck dignitaries, and a decoy demonstration will highlight the afternoon’s program.

The program will center around a decoy carving demonstration from well-known Currituck carver Jack Cox, winner of many awards including Best in Show from the International Wildfowl Carver’s Association. The self-taught carver Cox will be on hand from 2pm to 3pm to demonstrate and answer questions coinciding with the Museum’s waterfowl and decoy exhibit, “Art DuckO”.

Some of the more significant Currituck County artifacts on display in the Museum’s “Our Story” gallery include an American Indian water beaker, a Civil War era surgical kit, and the famous Liberty Pole.

Residents of Currituck County, and any, and all history buffs are invited to come and enjoy this tribute to Currituck County, one of the counties to make up the Museum of the Albemarle’s historical interpretive area. Light refreshments will be served.
