Nell Johnston Stuart, 77 of 771 Bells Island Road, Currituck, NC died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 in the Port Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte, FL. She was born on March 28, 1932 in Martinsville, VA to the late Buell Craig and Lillian Alice Joyce Johnston. Mrs. Stuart was a retired seamstress and commercial fisherman. She was a member of the Pilmoor United Methodist Church and an avid gardener.

She is survived by her husband, Harrel E. Stuart of the home, two daughters, Nancy S. Corbell and husband, Gary, of Currituck, NC and Kathy S. Davis of Kill Devil Hills, NC; one son, Watson Stuart of Currituck, NC; two sisters, Betty Lou Dodson of Barco, NC and Bobbie Sue Russell of Cashier, NC and two brothers, Billy Johnston of Portsmouth, VA and David Johnston of Chesapeake, VA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Angel Perry and husband, Chris, Tammy Glave and husband, Scot, Lynn Corbell and wife, Loretta, Heather Brewer and husband, Nick, Hunter Stuart, Amber Stuart and Katelyn Stuart; and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 19, 2009, at 2:00 pm in the Pilmoor United Methodist Church by Rev. Scott Wilson-Parsons. Burial will follow in the Snowden Cemetery, Maple, NC. The family will receive friends and relatives at Twiford Funeral Home, Church St., Saturday evening from 7:00 until 8:00 pm and again immediately following the funeral at their residence, 771 Bells Island Road, Currituck, NC. The family requests everyone to please wear casual attire at the funeral. Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E. Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Stuart family.
