Doris Ann Berry Pierce, 49, of 11 Bank Street, died Monday, April 13, 2009 in her home. Mrs. Pierce was born in Hamburg, Iowa and was the daughter of the late June Hill Evans. She was a homemaker. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Berry. Surviving are her husband, Larry B. Pierce Sr.; three daughters, Cori Matthews of South Mills, Casey Woolard of Winfall, and Brandy Pierce of Edenton; two sons, Jason Jones and Larry Pierce Jr., both of Sunbury; her father, Dwight E. Berry Sr. and his wife, Pamela, of Elizabeth City; three brothers, Gene Berry and Ray Berry, both of Jarvisburg and Donny Berry of Elizabeth City; a step-mother, Betty Jo Berry; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, by the Rev. Dennis Crehan. Friends may join the family in the funeral home following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to help defray medical and other related expenses.
