White, Melvin Bert : Obituary

,b>Elizabeth City, NC - Melvin Bert “B” White, 76, of 210 Cartwright Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Albemarle Hospital. Mr. White, a native of Pasquotank County, was the son of the late Sam O. White and Bertie Keaton White. He operated a concession stand for thirty years for the NC Department of Transportation. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, the Business Enterprise for the Blind, the American Council for the blind, and the River City Lion’s Club.

Mr. White is survived by a sister, Lillian Sanders of Elizabeth City, NC; and seven nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Katherine Ellis and Alice Louise Armstrong and a brother Sam White.

A funeral service will be Monday, March 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Twiford’s Northside Chapel with the Rev. Leon Overman officiating. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, immediately after the service in the lobby of the funeral home, and at other times at the residence of the sister, Lillian Sanders, 1725 County Street, Elizabeth City, NC.
