Local Bridge Among Economic Recovery Contracts

Currituck County is included among the first nine highway and bridge projects funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Gov. Bev Perdue announced on March 24, 2009.

Overnight Roadwork Scheduled on Knotts Island

An overnight work project will close NC 615 in Knotts Island from 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 25 until 5:00 a.m., Thursday, March 26. DOT crews will replace a drainage pipe underneath the road.
The location of the closure on NC 615 is 0.12 miles north of White Neck Road (SR 1390).

Expressway closed earlier due to ice

At approximately 8:20 a.m., the City of Chesapeake notified the Currituck County Communications Center that the 168 bypass (Chesapeake Expressway) in Chesapeake has been closed due to icy conditions. Chesapeake officials warned motorists to use extreme caution if using Rt. 17 north as an alternate route, also due to icy conditions.
