Mind the Milk… Got Cookies?

(from left to right) Girl Scouts, Lyla Hanig, age 9, of Powells Point; Kristin Hamm, age 11, of Harbinger; and Mauri Cannon, age 10 of Sligo peddle Girl Scout cookies outside the Shell station in Currituck last Saturday - the first day of “booth sales”. According to Ms. Hanig, the number one best seller is Thin Mints - round, mint-flavored cookies covered with dark chocolate. Ms. Hamm’s favorite is Tagalongs - round cookies with a layer of peanut butter on top, and covered in chocolate. Hamm reminds readers that Cookies will only be on sale until March 13. Ms. Cannon - who has been involved in Girl scouting for four years - said her favorite is Samoas - round doughnut-shaped cookies with a hole in the center, covered in caramel and toasted coconut, and then striped with chocolate.

Local members of the Girl Scout Council of the Colonial Coast are selling cookies to help pay for a trip to Savannah, Georgia - to visit the birthplace of Girl Scout founder, Juliet Gordon Lowe. Those interested in purchasing cookies may contact Dawn Waldrop at (252) 232-3789.
