In response to growing customer demand for produce, seafood and meats from local sources, the Weeping Radish in Jarvsiburg is sponsoring the first “Outer Banks Food Expo.” Designed for industry professionals, the expo will bring together a food producers from land and sea with chefs, restaurant and speciality grocery store owner.
Scheduled for Tuesday, February 10th from noon until 4:00 p.m., the event is a first of its kind, according to Uli Bennewitz, owner of Weeping Radish. “Nobody has ever tried to do a local produce show and invite chefs and buyers,” he says. “The farmer-to-fork concept is being re-introduced to the public and they are asking for local produce and seafood.”
The expo will have on hand local farmers, seafood vendors, coffee producers and wineries and is intended for the whole family of the working professionals. The ice rink will be open for expo visitors and food and drink samples will be offered.
