Culifer, James Amos - Obituary

Moyock - James Amos Culifer, 80, 139 Pinto Drive, Moyock, N.C., died at his residence on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009. Born in Greenville, N.C., he was the son of Tessie Baker Kirby of Kenly, N.C., and the late Amos Culifer, and was the husband of Charlotte Pearman Culifer of the residence. He was a retired truck driver for Consolidated Freight, and a commercial crabber. Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Culifer is survived by five daughters; Marie Pisacreta of Charleston, S.C., Diane Shaffier of Gilbert, Ariz., Teresa Perdue of Sanford, N.C., Beverly Ray of Branchville, Va., and Janice Mannchen of Moyock, N.C.; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Wilson of West Minister, Md.; one brother, Robert Edward Culifer of Kenly, N.C.; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at Moyock Assembly of God Church on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 at noon and will be officiated by Pastor Scott Pollard. Burial will follow at Moyock Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel 405 E. Church Street, Elizabeth City, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.
