Currituck County Parks and Recreation recently accepted a donation intended to provide support for the county’s Special Olympics Program.
The Moyock Ruritan Club and the Wild Goose Rotary Club presented Currituck Parks and Recreation Director Jason Weeks with a check for $2,307.00 on January 8, 2009. Recent fundraising efforts by the community groups include the annual Wild Goose Chase 5K, which is held in Moyock.
This generous donation will help provide equipment, uniforms, and travel costs for Currituck’s Special Olympics athletes. Activities available within the Currituck Special Olympics program include basketball and bowling. Participation is open to county residents ages 8 and older, and athletes are eligible for state-level competitions.
