Sawyer, M.G “Red” - Obituary

Elizabeth City - M. G. “Red” Sawyer, 81, of 1213 Riverside Avenue, River Wind Apt. 304, Elizabeth City, NC, died at Albermarle Hospital on Sunday, December 21, 2008. Born in Pasquotank County, NC he was the son of the late Barney L. Sawyer and the late Ethel Sawyer Sawyer, and the husband of Earline Alexander Sawyer of the residence. He had been in the U.S. Navy, and was retired as the owner operator of M.G. Sawyer clothing store.

Besides his wife, Mr. Sawyer is survived by one son Jerry Sawyer; one daughter Jackie S. Smith and husband Tommy all of Elizabeth City, NC; and two grand children Jeremy Smith and Andrea Smith both of Nags Head, NC.

Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Berea Baptist Church by Rev. John L. Wolford III. In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to the Berea Baptist Church Family Life Center, 2033 North Road St., Elizabeth City, NC 27909. The family will receive friends at the residence, and you may sign the online guest register at www.twifordfh.com. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909 is assisting the Sawyer family.
