Geoghegan, Barney J - Obituary

Kill Devil Hills - Barney Joe Geoghegan passed away December 21, 2008 of natural causes.  He was 68. Barney was born in Henderson, North Carolina May 2, 1940. He was the son of the late Charles and Ada Kathleen Geoghegan.
 
Barney served his country honorably in the United States Army in the late 1950’s. He worked as a tobacco buyer for over 40 years. Barney retired to the Outer Banks where he enjoyed golf, fishing and visits with his children and grandchildren.
 
Barney Geoghegan is survived by three children; Heather Geoghegan of Kill Devil Hills, Sean Geoghegan and wife Sara of Roanoke Virginia, and Oliver Geoghegan and wife Lucy of Lynchburg, Virginia; the children’s mother, Donna Kirkman Geoghegan of Lynchburg ; and three grandchildren Gage, Bailee, and Olivia Geoghegan.

The family will hold a celebration of Barney’s life Saturday January 3, 2009 at 1 O’clock in the afternoon, at the Colington Harbour Club House. The Reverend Gale Kirkman will officiate.
