Morgan, Irvin Thomas - Obituary

Elizabeth City - Irvin Thomas Morgan “Daddy”, 83, of Main Street Extended, Elizabeth City, NC had a glorious homecoming Tuesday, December 16, 2008. Mr. Morgan, a native of Pasquotank County, was the son of the late Thomas Seth Morgan and Mary Liza Onley Morgan, and the husband of Jessie Louise Hardesty Morgan of Elizabeth City, NC. Mr. Morgan was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Army in New Guinea, the Philippines, and Luzon. After his time in the Army he worked as a supervisor at Pells Paper Box Company for 49 years. Mr. Morgan was a member of New Life Assembly of God, he enjoyed swinging and tending to his yard.

Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters, Kathy Hall of Elizabeth City, and Deborah Pierce of Roseville, CA; sister, Pauline Meads of Weeksville, NC; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Morgan is preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Tadlock, Callie Morgan, and Josephine Cartwright; and three brothers, Julian Morgan, Harvey Morgan, and Nathan Morgan.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 11:00 am at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bill Mann and Pastor Clay Manos officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors being provided by the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post 6060. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of the deceased.
