Esther E. Walker, 87 of 3479 Caratoke Highway, Maple, N.C., died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Sentara Nursing Center, Currituck, N.C. Mrs. Walker was born in Currituck, N.C., the daughter of the late Jessie and Shirley Woodhouse Walker and was the widow Milton Albert Walker. Mrs. Walker was a retired U.S. Postal Service clerk, owned and operated Esther’s Beauty Shop and was a member of the Rehobath Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Sirley Jane McHorney of Chesapeake, Va.; a son, Barry M. Walker and wife, Nancy, of Grandy, N.C.; four grandchildren, Tracey Rominger and husband, Kirby, Lesley Kennedy and husband Lawrence, Darin Walker and Nicole Walker, and three great grandchildren, Kellie, Shane, Nathan. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lamar Herndon officiating. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery.
