Whalehead Club Holiday Celebrations

The Whalehead Club at Currituck Heritage Park, in Corolla, will celebrate the holidays with distinctive celebrations. Join in the fun as the Whalehead Club enjoys the Christmas season in Currituck.

Currituck Heritage Park Illumination - Saturday, December 13, 2008 | 5:00 p.m.

See the giant cedar tree in the Park and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse simultaneously illuminated. Gather on the north lawn to enjoy free hot chocolate and sing carols with the Currituck County High School Choral Ensemble. Following the lighting ceremony, the Whalehead Club holiday open house will feature decorations inspired by the 1920s etchings of Edward Collings Knight, Jr. Horse-drawn carriage rides through Currituck Heritage Park will also be available by Carolina Carriages.

Holiday Piano Concert - Saturday, December 13, 2008 | 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Holiday Piano Concert in the Library of the Whalehead Club featuring the fabulous sounds of the Currituck County High School Choral Ensemble singing holiday favorites. The second half of the concert features the amazing talents of local pianist, Sally Copeland Wright who will bring Mrs. Knight’s custom Steinway Grand Piano to life. Tickets are $35 each or four for $100 and include a dessert reception during intermission.

Winter Piano Concert - Monday, December 29, 2008 | 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Sondra Meinhardt and friends will perform classics from the 1920s era as well as holiday favorites. Be mesmerized by the century-old Steinway Grand Piano being played by local artists who will draw out the melodies from the polished mahogany. Tickets are $35 per person or four for $100 and include a light reception during intermission.
